Sithonia
The second “leg” of Chalkidiki is called Sithonia. Sithonia is surrounded by the Toroneos and Singitikos Gulf. Beautiful forests of Sithonia overlook the sea waves from the mountain ridges. The highest peak - Itamos - is 811 meters above sea level. According to the legend, it was in the emerald grove of Sithonia where the god of the underworld Hades was able to entrap the beautiful Persephone.
