There are two picturesque villages of Sfakaki and Stavromenos close to the cottages, both with beautiful taverns, offering excellent food and wine. There are wonderful beaches and the harbor. It is interesting to wander around the picturesque old streets, admire the old and elegant Cretan houses and coffee shops, etc.
A wonderful old city of Rethymno with many historical sites that are worth a visit is within 10 km.

Rethymno, Crete
Rethymno is located on the northern coast of Crete, 78 km west of Heraklion. Beautiful promenade and beaches in the eastern part, distinctive local color, picturesque streets in the old part of the city, contrasts and surprises, all sorts of interesting objects make Rethymno a magical place.
