Neighborhood
Almyrida is a very nice coastal village, with two EU Blue Flag sandy beaches, a smaller one in the west and a large curved beach in the east. On the beaches you can rent sun loungers and parasols. There are mini markets, tour shops, bars, cafes and many taverns on the coast. You can also drive to the nearby Kalives beach (3 km), or to the villages of Gavalochori (4 km) and Plaka (1 km). it is worth visiting such attractions as the fresh water lake Kournas, ancient Aptera, the monasteries of the Akrotiri peninsula, the Samaria Gorge and the unique Venetian old town of Chania 25 km away and also in the other direction a beautiful place - Gergioupoli is also 25 km from Almyrida. 40 km from the amazing place is the village of Argiroupoli, where you can eat delicious fresh fish and delicious meat and other local dishes in the shade of natural springs, and in the evening see an interesting spectacle of the Cretan evening.
