The flower of the Mediterranean East, the island of Zakynthos is the southernmost and most picturesque among the islands of the Ionian Sea. For the beauty of the landscapes, this island of Greece is especially loved by artists and photographers - lush greenery surrounded by beautiful mountains, centuries-old pine trees, golden sand dunes, picturesque olive and orange groves, bizarre rocks surrounded by cozy bays, authentic villages with ancient monasteries. The incredible beauty of Zakynthos certainly contributed to the fact that it was here that two of the greatest Greek poets, Dionysios Solomos and Andreas Kalvos, were born, and the painting of the Zakynthos school arose. The main attraction of Zakynthos is its wonderful beaches. The most famous of them - Navagio - the hallmark of the island. Photos of this beach can be found on any postcard advertising this piece of paradise. Navagio is located in a deep bay and can only be reached from the sea. The white sand of the beach in contrast with the turquoise water of the sea make an indelible impression. Zakynthos is famous for the church of St. Dionysius, the monastery where this righteous man lived, and the Venetian tower. Natural attractions of Zakynthos include Navagio beach, Askos stone park and, of course, the Blue Caves at Cape Skinari, whose beauty, according to legend, Apollo and Aphrodite were fascinated by - the sun's rays, refracting, color the water in the caves with a bright blue color with an emerald hue. The climate in Zakynthos is mild Mediterranean. The swimming season here lasts from May to mid-October.
