This is a beautiful mountain area, where you can find rocky gorges, turbulent mountain rivers, pine forests, beautiful lakes with fresh water. Also, there are a lot of historical, architectural and cultural monuments, which attract the tourists visiting Rethymno. Crete is generally known as an exceptionally beautiful place full of history and mythology.
North Coast of Rethymno has a long strip of sandy beaches (about 15 km away). This is a comfortable and quiet zone with clean beaches, some of them with the "Blue Flag".
Atsipopoulo village is located 3 km from the city of Rethymno and 1.5 km from the sea. With easy access to the harbor and the airports of Chania and Heraklion, it creates a sense of tranquility and a genuine taste of the traditional village.
This is a heroic little village with a long history of Byzantine and Venetian origin. The first signs of the existence of the village date back to the period of the Minoan civilization. Its residents were engaged in the production of oil, wine and antique ceramics.
Atsipopoulo old mansions were built close to each other, among narrow picturesque streets, sometimes passing through the small medieval arcades and arches. Here visitors will admire the Venetian art, oriental luxury and Cretan architecture.
The village has restaurants, cafes, a pharmacy, a hairdresser and 3 minimarkets. The bus stop is at a distance of 100 meters (main route: Rethymno-Metoxia-Rethymno, several routes on weekdays and weekends).
