The southernmost of the seven Ionian Islands, Zakynthos (Zakynthos) abounds in natural wonders. Mountain ranges covered with tall pine trees and alluring shady paths, emerald valleys drowning in olive groves and orchards... And the coast itself is an endless series of beaches, one more beautiful than the other. The shores of Zakynthos, especially from the West, are indented with small beautiful bays. Fanciful coastal cliffs form mysterious caves and grottoes, where you can swim in a boat and swim in the purest water of an unusual azure color. No less wonderful and attractive is the history of Zakynthos. The name of the island comes from the name of its discoverer and ruler of Zakynthos. The myths about the Trojan War mention the inhabitants of Zakynthos who participated in the campaign against Troy led by Odysseus. Antique times left a certain elusive mark here, a unique atmosphere. However, among the sights of Zakynthos you will hardly find evidence of these times. But there are many monuments of the era of Venetian rule. Under the Venetians, the island reached its highest peak. And today, the beautiful landscapes of the island are exquisitely complemented by Venetian towers and fortresses, and in the city of Zakynthos, the capital of the island, there is even St. Mark's Square with the Catholic Cathedral of St. Mark - just like in Venice. Villa Sineva is located on the northern coast of Zakynthos - the most beautiful and peaceful part of the island. It is located 30 km from the capital and airport of the island, and 3 km from the small port of Agios Nikolaos, which connects Zakynthos with the island of Kefalonia (1 hour by ferry). In the port you will find many shops, cafes, taverns with traditional cuisine. If you decide to spend the day swimming in the sea and sunbathing on the shore, you only need to walk 150 m along the path that ends right next to the sea and the Cave of the Priest. You will enjoy the crystal clear sea, known for its deep blue hue, and explore the caves. Here you can go fishing, because these places are rich in various and very tasty Mediterranean fish! You can take a motorboat to one of the many wild beaches or visit the famous beaches of the island: Agios Nikolaos, Maktis Gialos, Xygia (health resort). If you want to go for a walk or a mountain bike ride, there are many routes to choose from. You will not be able to tear your eyes away from the unique landscapes and luxurious flora of the island. You may prefer to simply relax on the balcony, contemplating the natural beauties and the sea waves. If you are lucky, you may see dolphins or unique fur seals (monachus monachus).
